Community Services Block Grant / Direct Services Support (CSBG)

The Community Services Block Grant (CSBG) program was created by the federal Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1981. The CSBG program is designed to provide a range of services which assist low-income people to attain skills, knowledge and motivation necessary to achieve self-sufficiency. The program also may provide low-income people immediate life necessities such as food, shelter, medicine, etc.

Community Services Block Grant/Direct Services Support (CSBG) is funded by Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. CSBG provides administrative and support services in Anderson, Collin, Denton, Ellis, Henderson, Hunt, Kaufman, Navarro, Rockwall, and Van Zandt counties. Direct Support Services includes assistance to low income households through six month case management and may include energy assistance, individual attending college or participating in training programs needing tuition, fees, books and/or transportation assistance and assistance with small business ventures.
